The Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHRSS) was presented at the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 16-18 June 2017. GIES was co-hosted by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and co-organised by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation to promote community awareness on the use of technology and innovation to enhance the quality of life for the elderly. It is also one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.
The Electronic Health Record (eHR) Office, in collaboration with the Department of Health (DH), hosted an exhibition booth on eHRSS and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programmes launched by the Hospital Authority and DH. Through multimedia means, participants were illustrated the concepts, development and vision of eHR sharing, and the transformation in healthcare service delivery enabled by the implementation of eHRSS. The exhibition booth has attracted visitors of different age groups and from diverse background such as the IT, non-governmental and healthcare sectors.
Registration counters were set up at the booth to carry out onsite registrations for members of the public. During the three-day event, about 900 participants have registered with eHRSS.
Since its launch in 2016, eHRSS has received positive response from the community and the healthcare sector. As at end-June 2017, over 510,000 patients and about 1,300 healthcare providers have already joined the system.
