The Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHealth) was exhibited at the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 3-6 November 2021.
GIES is the largest gerontechnology public education event in Hong Kong jointly hosted by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and co-organised with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. It provides opportunity for the general public to learn more about the latest innovative products and technologies developed to meet the needs of the aging population and the rehabilitation of people with disabilities with the aim to foster application of gerontechnology in local elderly and rehabilitation service industry, drive policy changes as well as societal and economic developments in Hong Kong.
Since eHealth was launched in 2016, participation of the public and the healthcare sectors continues to grow. In particular, there has been a substantial increase in registration starting from February this year when members of the public can register with eHealth via the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme in one-stop. As at end-October 2021, over 4.3 million members of the public and over 2 300 healthcare providers registered with eHealth. The number of download of the 醫健通eHealth App launched early this year also exceeded 1.7 million.
This is the fifth consecutive year the Electronic Health Record Office participating into GIES. We continued to encourage visitors to register with eHealth on-site. Through a variety of activities at the booth, such as broadcast of promotional videos and distribution of leaflets etc., we showcased the latest key development of eHealth:
- Applicants can complete identity verification and eHealth registration online with “iAM Smart” at the same time;
- eHealth commenced sharing radiology images by phases; and
- The App introduced the new health management module.
Vistors could also join the interactive game at the booth to learn about the various functions of the App and get a souvenir. We also assist them in downloading the App on-site instantly, enabling them to obtain useful health information and actively manage the health of themselves and family members anytime anywhere. The event attracted near 100 and over 450 members of the public to register with eHealth and download the App on-site respectively.
